Dr. Karoline Bechtold
Peter studied pharmacy in Munich and received her Ph.D. in 1994 in Pharmaceutical
Technology from Professor Dr. Karl Thoma on the formulation of pancreatic enzymes.
She is at present heading Pharmaceutical Processes within the business unit Biopharmaceuticals
at Boehringer Ingelheim Pharma GmbH & Co. KG. In her position she is responsible
for clinical supplies manufacturing of biopharmaceutical drug products, development
of manufacturing processes, scale up and packaging development. Prior to this,
she built up and headed Biopharmaceutical Formulation Development, and was supervising
a development laboratory for solid dosage forms and inhalation products (small
molecules), both at Boehringer Ingelheim.
Dr. Bechtold Bechtold-Peters is already active in the EABP and leads the "Special
Interest Group Networking", which was founded in spring this year and is
dedicated to the structuring of a network including small start up companies and
big players within the European Pharma Biotechnology. The reinforcement of the
co-operation between the European biopharmaceutical companies inclusive of Eastern
Europe, with the universities, with other national and international organizations,
for the increase of weight of the European Pharma Biotechnology compared to the
USA are goals which Karoline Bechtold-Peters persues within the EAPB.
