Rainer
H. Müller: Professor at the Freie Universität Berlin, Head of the
Department of Pharmaceutical Technology, Biopharmaceutics & Biotechnology.
Main research areas are solid lipid nanoparticles (SLN), nanosuspensions of
poorly soluble drugs and drug targeting using the concept of "differential
protein adsorption". He studied pharmacy at Kiel University/North Germany
and obtained his PhD at Kiel University in 1983 (physical pharmacy, microemulsions).
He spent 4 years as visiting scientist at the Pharmacy Department/University
of Nottingham, UK and 1 year at the Université de Paris-Sud (research
group P. Couvreur). Since 1991 he is professor at the Freie Universität
in Berlin, his publications include 12 books, 15 patents/patent applications,
about 30 book chapters and about 150 research articles. The research projects
involve basic academic research (about one third of activities), but main emphasis
is given to industry projects.
