On 29 November 2000 the Polish Society founded its section "Pharmaceutical Biotechnology". At the foundation meeting in Warsaw the EAPB was represented by the President Rainer Müller and the Governor Gesine Hildebrand. It was agreed that this new section should simultaneously be the local representative of EAPB for "Poland and Eastern Europe". The official co-operation contract between the two societies was signed in an official ceremony during the Annual meeting in Posnan. For the first time, a special session "Pharmaceutical Biotechnoloy" was organized at this meeting, one of the first activities of the Polish section. The success balance of the Polish section is outstanding. In less than one year of existence 61 members joined, making this section one of the strongest in the EAPB.
